Before listing the dog-friendly beaches in the Somme, let's take a look at the top 10 places to visit with your dog or activities to do with your dog in the Somme.
Somme: beaches that accept dogs
This is the info that every dog owner looks for everywhere once the weather is nice: which beaches accept dogs? In summer, beaches that accept dogs are quite rare in France, but the Somme is a bit of an exception. Here is the list of beaches not to be missed in the department for you and your dog.
- Fort Mahon : dogs prohibited on the part of the beach in front of the houses and the surveillance zone, along the esplanade and the Boulevard maritime.
- Quend-Plage : dogs allowed on a leash outside the bathing areas of the beach.
- Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont : no prohibition on the beach for dogs. On the other hand, dogs are not allowed even with a leash inside the Parc du Marquenterre, classified as a nature reserve.
- Maye : dogs allowed on a leash on the left of the beach. Please note that dogs are prohibited in the Baie de Somme nature reserve (right side of the beach).
- Crotoy : outside the bathing areas, dogs are allowed on a leash on the rest of the beach from Allée de la Grève to Maye beach.
- Saint Valery sur Somme: For the beach and swimming, they are authorized on a leash but prohibited on the coastal path.
- Brighton : dogs allowed
- La Molliere: dogs allowed
- Cayeux-sur-Mer : dogs tolerated on a leash on the boardwalk. Authorized on a leash outside the supervised bathing area.
- Ault, Onival : dogs allowed only on the esplanade and kept on a leash.
- Mers-les-Bains : dogs allowed only on the esplanade and on a leash.
The opinion of Musher and Sophie: - " Be careful, if your dog can enjoy these pretty beaches accessible all along the Somme coast, from the cliffs of Ault, through the Abie de Somme to Fort-Mahon-Plage, there are a few rules to respect such as keeping his dog on a leash so as not to risk disturbing anyone, pick up their droppings and not run after the animal and wild species that live on the beach so as not to disturb the local fauna. I'm counting on you to set a good example my little Wouafer's!”
