Day 1 - Mers-les-Bains and Le Tréport

I suggest you start this week of vacation by gaining some heightextreme south of the Bay of Somme ! I will take you to discover Mers-les-Bains and Tréport with your dog. Between Mers-les-Bains and Ault, you will discover grandiose chalk cliffs overlooking immense pebble beaches.

The morning :

  • a mystery hike The mysterious villas of Bois de Cise in Ault. This activity to do with a dog should be booked early Bay of Somme Exploration. Let's go for a 2 hour treasure hunt of around 30km to discover the places through puzzles and markers. Please note, this activity is not accessible to strollers.

Lunch break :

  • Picnic in Mers-les-Bains with a view of the cliffs (be careful, the beach is not allowed for dogs)

The afternoon :

Day 2 - Abbeville and Grand Laviers

For this second day in the Bay of Somme with your dog and your children, I offer you 2 activities. A 100% natural discovery, and a treasure hunt in town to discover Abbeville in a fun way.

To start the day right :

  • the Grand Laviers reserve : it’s a bird’s paradise! At the gates of Abbeville, your children and your dog will be able to discover more than 200 species of birds as long as they know how to be discreet. There is 3 circuits of 3 durations different options to discover this calm and 100% natural place. Up to you !

For the lunch :

To continue this recreational day with the family, I suggest:

  • a treasure hunt “In search of the treasures of Bouvaque” organized by Bay of Somme Exploration. An adventure 100% dog-friendly and completely doable in a stroller if necessary 😉 Allow 1 to 2 hours to complete the mission!

Day 3 - Saint-Quentin-de-Tourmont, Fort-Mahon and Berck

Direction the north of the Bay of Somme for this new day of family vacation.

To start the day off right, I suggest:

  • a little carriage ride ! The Parc du Marquenterre is not allowed for dogs but I have a plan B for you! From the park, in Saint-Quentin-de-Tourmont, climb aboard the Marquenterre carriage for an original discovery of the Bay of Somme with your children and your dog. Pasha and his human, naturalist guide, will help you discover the places with passion. Allow 2 hours of walking. It's up to you to see if your dog will be able to stay calm long enough... but if he has a good recall, he will be able to run freely following the carriage!

For the lunch :

To continue this day with your children and your dog, I suggest:

Day 4 - Le Crotoy

This time, I offer you a day in the heart of the Bay of Somme ! I'll take you to Crotoy. Prepare the children's backpack and your dog's belongings! We're going to travel in time!

To start the day off right, I suggest:

  • de enjoy the campsite and its swimming pool (if you have opted for this type of accommodation for your travel itinerary “a week in the Bay of Somme with my children and my dog”). After 3 days of discovery where you have been amazed, take a break to enjoy simple moments with your family.

For the lunch :

Now that you have arrived at Crotoy, I suggest two activities for this afternoon with your children and your dog:

  • take a seat at aboard the little train Somme Bay Railway. Aboard an authentic steam train, this is an unusual experience that your children will not soon forget! There are several routes but I suggest the one between Le Crotoy and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. The bonus: it is commented.
  • once at Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, you can return on foot! Here we go for a crossing the Bay of Somme on foot and accompanied. 3 hours of iodized outing on the program for your children and your dog.
  • OR, if you have a small dog, you can choose toexplore Saint-Valery-sur-Somme by electric Tuk-tuk. Allow 40 minutes for the guided tour. The Bay Railway offers a train + Tuk-tuk day accessible with a small dog. A unique and enriching experience for your children.
  • In Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, a gourmet break is essential at The Bay Waffles : your children and your dog will love it!!

Please note: this program may change depending on the tides…you may need to do the opposite: leave on foot and return by train.

Day 5 - Saint Valery-sur-Somme

Impossible to offer you a special Baie de Somme travel itinerary without introducing yourself Saint-Valery-sur-Somme ! I almost saved the best for last! But don't worry, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are also magical days for your children and your dog.

To start the day off right, I suggest:

  • a boat trip along the coast to discover the Bay of Somme from the sea this time. Departing from Saint Valery-sur-Somme, board the boats in the Bay of Somme.

For the lunch :

Saint Valery-sur-Somme is a small medieval town which is worth the detour. I suggest you spend the rest of the day there with your children and your dog:

  • stroll through the streets to discover the Guillaume towers, then the old fishermen's quarter called "Courtgain" with its small colorful houses with flowered facades. The Nevers Gate, the high ramparts and watchtowers, as well as the half-timbered houses and cobbled streets are also worth the detour... Then join the dike to enjoy a little more of the atmosphere of Saint Valery.
  • enjoy the beach allowed for dogs from Saint-Valery-sur-Somme ! Perfect for an afternoon of swimming, sandcastles, beach rackets or frisbee with your dog!

Day 6 - Cayeux-sur-Mer

@Helene Atton

Ohoh today, for this last day of vacation, I suggest youexplore the Bay of Somme by bike. Your children will come back from this day with stars in their eyes because if they are lucky, they should meet the famous seals of the Bay of Somme. I saved the best for last!

To start the day off right, I suggest:

  • byaller rent a bike in Cayeux-sur-Mer and explore the Pointe du Hourdel. At David Sport, you can rent a trailer for children or dogs (less than 15 kilos only). Then it's off to go wandering along the Velomaritime. 7km towards Pointe du Hourdel.
  • Pointe du Hourdel is the best place to observe seals in the entire bay ! But be careful, you must absolutely respect a distance of 300m to observe them and not put them in danger. If you get too close, they raise their heads and run away. Except that a seal needs to rest twice a day: it's a question of survival! And in summer, mother seals have their pups. If they are disturbed too often, they may abandon their babies who do not survive on their own... So being curious, yes! but at a good distance!

For the lunch :

  • the restaurant La Pointe du Hourdel

And then to finish in style, I suggest the return to Cayeux with a stroll on its famous boardwalk along the beach to discover the famous cabins of Cayeux-sur-Mer. 519 colorful cabins await you, the opportunity to take magnificent photos with your dog and your children.
