To discover the entire Bay of Somme with your dog in a few hours, I share with you a first good plan: the Somme Bay Railway. This is an activity to do with your dog in the Baie de Somme. This is the opportunity to travel aboard historic trains, on the old “Réseau des Bains de Mer” and discover the whole bay in a “Belle Epoque” atmosphere. You will be able to discover and visit the seaside resorts of Cayeux-sur-Mer, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Le Crotoy. Note that there are also cycle paths that stop in the stations served by the little train. So you can absolutely, if you have your own equipment, mix a piece of the route by train with your dog and discover the rest of the route by bike with your dog. In particular, you can take the bike path called le tour de la Baie; it is the one that runs the furthest along the coast.

Let's start the discovery of the Bay of Somme by Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. This little medieval town will please you, I'm sure. Discover Saint-Valery-sur-Somme with your dog. Strolling through the narrow streets of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme you can discover: the Guillaume towers, the old fishermen's quarter known as the "Courtgain" with its small colorful houses with flowery facades, the Porte de Nevers, the high ramparts and the watchtowers, half-timbered houses, cobbled streets... There is an air of the Middle Ages floating around the alleys of Saint Valery-sur-Somme. And then, once you've explored the old town from top to bottom, take a walk along the seawall, the Quai Jeanne d'Arc towards the beach. For safety reasons, your dog must be kept on a leash throughout your trip to Saint Valery-sur-Somme. Departing from Saint Valery-sur-Somme, you can discover the bay by boat with boats in the Bay of Somme. Depending on the outing you choose, you can even see the seals up close! Let's cross the Bay and discover Crotoy. Always in the company of your dog, W'ouf race! Many nature guides offer discovery outings of the bay on foot. There are 3 starting points for these walks: the Crotoy locks, Pointe du Hourdel for seal watching or Maye beach. But be careful, your dog will not be able to come with you if you choose the exit which starts at Maye beach because this beach is located in the Bay nature reserve and it is therefore an area completely prohibited for dogs, even kept in leave alone. Strolling through the narrow streets of Le Crotoy with your dog, you will discover the fishermen's houses of this former fishing port which was one of the most important in the Channel. The long sandy beach is the only beach in the North to face south. 

Around Le Crotoy, you can also discover the Rambures castle with your dog. In the 15-hectare park, labeled “Remarkable Garden”, you can observe: a rose garden with more than 510 varieties, the herb garden, of medieval inspiration, made up of geometric beds with useful dyeing, medicinal and aromatic plants, a collection of ferns, a conservatory orchard and an arboretum. All dogs, even categorized, are welcome with their masters. Only small dogs carried in your arms or in a dog backpack will be able to visit the interior of the castle. If the Parc du Marquenterre, a fabulous ornithological reserve, is not authorized for dogs, even on a leash, you can discover the ornithological reserve of Grand Laviers with your dog. That the fans of birds are reassured, this natural space is also magic. It is a natural area of ​​40 hectares located 5 minutes as the crow flies from the Baie de Somme. On site, there are 3 circuits offered from 45mins to 2h30. You can walk freely on the site or choose a guided tour with a nature guide who will share his love for nature and introduce you to the fauna and flora of the reserve.
