5 good reasons to go on All Saints' Day vacation with your dog
The summer holidays are ending… Some of us are still enjoying the joys of the off-season with their dog, but most have returned and resumed their cruising speed… When I come back from vacation, I love to immerse myself directly in preparation for the next vacation! I imagine all that I will be able to discover again with my husband and my beautiful Musher.
Here are 5 good reasons to go on vacation on All Saints Day with the family, dog included: it’s WOW better!
1- The temperatures are still pleasant
I live in the south of France and Musher and I therefore experience high temperatures every summer. Which means that I have to plan outings with Musher according to the temperatures to avoid the heatstroke. Impossible to go on a hike when it is 36°C in the shade or when you have to take the car which displays 45°C in the passenger compartment…
Water points are dry and can become dangerous due to cyanobacteria if the level and flow becomes very low.
Summer is the time of year when in the end we are the least active because the heat prevents us from doing a lot of things.
In autumn and therefore during the All Saints holidays, the days are pleasant and the heat is reasonable: you can do whatever you want! The temperature of the lakes and the sea is cool but not freezing: we can therefore still fcanoe area with your dog or stand-up paddle.
2- There are fewer people
In summer, the whole of France goes on vacation and holidaymakers from neighboring countries also come to enjoy our little corners of paradise: there are people everywhere! There are few dog-friendly beaches…
In October, our four-legged friends are more easily tolerated! In summer, some hikes are very busy: you walk in single file and stop to let people pass. Difficult to let your dog run free in these conditions. On All Saints' Day, it's not uncommon to feel almost alone in the world sometimes: doggie can have fun without disturbing anyone! The best!
Attention because the season of autumn is also the season of hunting… Musher wears a bell on his collar and a neon orange vest when I know there are hunters in the area we're going through. Thus, less danger of being confused with game.
3- Nature is beautiful
Autumn is a season that calls for nature walks. From the first days of autumn, nature changes color and the trees display flamboyant foliage. It's time to pick up chestnuts to grill on the fireplace or mushrooms to make delicious omelettes. Beware of champignons: an overly greedy/curious dog could be tempted to taste them and beware of intoxication. Musher loves jumping in piles of dead leaves. She digs into it and sends the leaves waltzing far behind her. She's having fun like crazy! Musher bathes when she feels like it: only she can judge whether it's too cold for her or not. If the air is cool, I dry it when the bathing session is over so as not to risk a cold snap. To learn more about bathing, re-read the article “can your dog bathe in the winter?”. For the most cautious dogs, if autumn is a season that is too wet for them, there are different dog coats to keep them warm.
4- An ideal season to test new activities
Autumn is caught between the frenzy of summer where people go off and have to have fun because they have saved 11 months of the year to treat themselves to a few days in the sun where nothing and no one has to stop them from enjoying it. enjoy to the max (stressed summer vacationers) and the Christmas holidays, a period of crazy excitement too. It's a great time to recharge your batteries and try lots of new things with your dog: doga, canicross, caniMTB,…
5- Accommodation prices are more attractive
