Abreschviller steam train

:

your dog is welcome here

Pleasant walk of about 1 to 30 hours in the little Abreschviller forest train in Moselle (about fifteen km from Sarrebourg) which takes you from Abreschviller station to the Haut Fer sawmill via the hamlet of Grand Soldat (hometown of Alexandre Chatrian of the "couple" of Erckmann-Chatrian authors). Opportunity to visit the sawmill with its large paddle wheel before returning to the train for the return through the forest along the Sarre Rouge. Welcoming dogs poses no problem: possibility of snacks and/or picnics in the shade at the back of the station with a dog-bar available. In the train, there is sufficient space for dogs, even for large dogs at the front of the carriages (only one row of seats!). The only constraints - common to almost all activities: the leash and cleanliness (bring your bags, I didn't see any on site) - Our Capsule (1-year-old Breton spaniel cross) felt comfortable all along the journey. The train runs from April to October. Although there is no possibility of reservation, it is wise to check the schedule on the site before going there: at certain times the steam train is replaced by a diesel locomotive and certain weekends are special and original events (attack on the train by Indians, blueberry festival, etc.)
