Chambon Lake

During our vacation in Auvergne, we were able to discover the magnificent Lake Chambon with our dog. It is a lake of volcanic origin located in the Monts Dore, in the Puy-de-Dôme department! And it’s dog friendly! Near the lake, there is a very large free parking lot to leave your car.

We went around Lake Chambon (except the supervised swimming beach which is prohibited for dogs). It’s a great walk to share with the family! The surroundings of the lake are very lively in summer, music, festivals... Dogs are allowed to swim everywhere, except on supervised beaches!

Along the hiking trails around the lake, there are many little hidden corners to discover, including waterfalls, little treasures off the beaten track.

The owners of the dog-friendly lodge “The little sheepfold of Saint Nectaire” where we stayed had prepared maps of the region for us, we were able to make some nice stops! Thanks to them !
