Millau Grands Causses: Gorges du Tarn, Millau Viaduct, City of Stones

Vibrate intensely in the heart of nature

1h15 from Montpellier and 2h30 from Toulouse, Millau is a destination full of surprises: paragliding, canoeing, hiking, canyoning, climbing, trail, via ferrata... Sports enthusiasts and adventurers, even Sunday ones, will find something to fully thrill them during their holidays. And with their dog, W'ouf course. A pioneer in canitourism, Millau was the first French destination to think about and offer tourist offers adapted to families traveling with their dog. In 2025, it was time for them to obtain the precious label: Destination QUALIDOG!

In January 2025, Millau Grands Causse joined the very select club of QUALIDOG-certified destinations in France. Since 2020, I have been supporting the office team in the development and implementation of its strategy in favor of canitourism. Today, I am very happy to hand over 👇⬇️ to Laetitia, its deputy director. Here, she presents the actions deployed by the team and the professionals of the destination to offer you a hairy holiday with your dog in their territory 💪😁

– “He’s the star, ⬅️ TSINGY ⬅️ , Australian Shepherd X Border Collie! I’m Laetitia, deputy director of the Millau Grands Causses tourist office.

Tsingy is probably my best birthday present. A little over 7 years that this ball of fur, energy and antics has been a full-fledged member of my family. At home, he deploys his shepherd skills and takes care of his "flock": 1 goat, 1 donkey, 1 rabbit, 3 "punk" chickens... all these little people live in semi-freedom on the great causses where I live!
Activities, walks, trips, city or nature, Tsingy is on all the outings and tries everything (or almost), like us… and very often as a duo with my daughter!

And that's probably the starting point of my thinking, combined with an observation from the tourist office reception team: "We're welcoming more and more families with dogs"... and why not get involved in dog tourism, to support them and welcome them better? When you have a dog, you know the challenges of travelling with it.

This is where our approach started: Take your dog to Millau! A season to observe, question, discuss with visitors accompanied by dogs… at the counters of the Tourist Office, in the markets, at random meetings in the field to draw up an initial concrete inventory of the destination.
Then the valuable support of Sophie Morche to better understand the Wouafer's (travelers with dogs) and train the teams on this clientele... so that we can in turn raise awareness among tourism stakeholders and collectively create a dynamic around canitourism...

The whole team is mobilized on a daily basis, at the reception in our offices (doggie bar, scratching and small gift), in activities with our guides, in the smile brigade (canine memo and small gift)... but also on the website with a space dedicated to canitourism, or how to explore the Millau Grands Causses destination with the family, with your dog who participates in his own way in the exploration!

Nature activities for everyone, canine entertainment to share, pampering accommodation, fun times... Millau, the Grands Causses, the Gorges du Tarn have no shortage of tempting offers!... and professionals delighted to welcome and please dogs and their families!

And what a pleasure to see families come back to the OT counter to thank us (a scratch for the doggie!), to see dogs with bandanas "Take your dog to Millau" at the summer concerts, to receive pretty photos of dogs, all smiles, in full activity with us! It is, I think, the most beautiful reward and the best guarantee of success of a welcoming and progress approach, right?!

Tsingy and I are two “epicurious”, each in our own way. Sharing the deep love I have for Millau and the Grands Causses, passing on its riches and curiosities, all of this, of course, hand in paw with Tsingy… what a joy!”
