Whether your dog is sporty or not, you will have to adapt your outing to his physical abilities...: distance speed, breaks,... Be aware that after a few kilometers, he will surely be tired of running behind you. For a successful walk, a dog must have time to sniff right and left and say hello to his fellow dogs, among other things. On a bike, it could be complicated for him. Your pace will surely be too "lively" for him to follow, especially if he is a small dog; he therefore has small legs, therefore has a short stride and will have to provide even more effort...

Consider the bicycle trailer. A perfect alternative! You can line up the miles with your dog. He will be happy to share this activity with you. And during your breaks, he can in turn have fun and frolic freely.

At the start, if your dog is not used to it, take the time to install it in the trailer, walk next to the bike for a few meters so that it gains confidence. Encourage him to make him feel comfortable. It will take him a little time to adapt but it should be fast!

Do a few test meters before leaving for 10 kilometers: if he has never been in a trailer, it may be intimidating for him when starting.

Remember to take breaks to allow him to let off steam: along the canal there is room for him to frolic in safety.
