In the heart of the pine forest, the Camping Siblu Les Charmettes certified QUALIDOG is an ideal vacation destination for families with their dogs. Discovery day, bike or kayak excursions and visits with your dog are on the program for this itinerary.

Day 1 - Coubre Forest
To start this superb week of family vacation with your dog at the Siblu Les Charmettes campsite, I suggest:
The morning :
- Guided bike ride through the forest trails and landscapes of La Palmyre with breathtaking views. The visit ends in style on the beach after this sporty morning. Bike rental at FAT SAND BIKES 17
For lunch in the heart of nature:
- picnic in the Coubre national forest.
The afternoon :
- relaxing walk in the Coubre forest, an 8000 ha forest. Suggested walk: tile trail, 6,9km ride
- Ou kayak trip on the Seudre marsh (it is also possible to go out to sea, depending on the tide)
Day 2 - Labyrinth and Mornac-sur-Seudre
Let's continue with the second day of this family holiday itinerary with your dog at Camping Siblu Les Charmettes with a discovery day around the campsite.
For an original and entertaining outing:
- Popcorn Corn Maze, Les Mathe: a huge maze ideal for a family walk with a dog. Your children will love it!
For lunch break:
- Cafe des Arts in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
For the afternoon :
- Walk in Mornac-sur-Seudre, in the heart of the marshes of the Arvert Peninsula, classified among the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”. You can discover this former fishing village which today houses a village of artisans. To discover: oyster farming and salt cultivation.
- Then you can extend this day with a kayak trip on the Seudre marsh (if you didn't do it the day before).
Day 3 - La Rochelle
1 hour from the campsite, I suggest you spend this third day of vacation in La Rochelle.
A sweet morning:
- Unmissable passage through Fouras and its famous squares
- Then embark for a one-hour cruise to the famous Fort Boyard (Alizée Fouras cruise: dog-friendly)
For lunch, two options:
- The La Boussole restaurant, a must for La Rochelle gastronomy.
- Or the Iseo restaurant, located a stone's throw from the Old Port of La Rochelle, this dog-friendly restaurant welcomes you in a lively atmosphere.
An afternoon full of discovery:
- Walk in La Rochelle: stroll through the old port and admire the famous towers, pass under the Grosse Horloge gate to stroll along the rue du temple and let yourself be carried away as you wish.
Gourmet break:
- At Ernest the ice cream maker to enjoy a delicious artisanal ice cream.
At the end of the day :
- Relaxing stroll along the seafront as the sun sets over the horizon. Minimal beach. Please note dogs are not allowed on the beach, except at certain times of the year. Magnificent view of Fort Boyard and the island of Oléron.
Day 4 - Sport and beach
For this fourth day, on the program: sport and relaxation at the beach next to Camping Siblu Les Charmettes.
Cool morning:
- Refreshing morning trip to the beach, ideal for avoiding the summer heat. Bonne Anse Bay Beach ou Coubre beach.
After enjoying the coastline:
- Head to Indian Forest for a picnic surrounded by nature. Good news, there are spade tables on site.
In the afternoon :
- After tree climbing at Indian Forest with shaded and varied routes. The site is suitable for everyone. Be careful here, dogs are allowed but kept on a leash.
Day 5 - day on the island of Oléron
For the fifth day of your family getaway with your dog, I suggest you explore the island of Oléron. Just 30 kilometers from the campsite.
The morning :
- little train of St Trojan to discover the coastal landscapes of the island.
For lunch, two options are possible:
- Restaurant Hiss O or the Isle of O
Both establishments are renowned for their local cuisine and stunning sea views.
In the afternoon :
- One-hour guided boat tour of the port of Salines. You will have the opportunity to learn more about salt harvesting, a traditional activity in the region. Tasting of local products. Dogs are obviously welcome within the adventure course as well as on the boat, provided they are kept on a leash.
Day 6 - Discovery of the Ile d’Aix
For this fifth day I suggest an excursion to the island of Aix, about 1 hour from the Siblu Les Charmettes campsite in Les Mathes.
Departure for the island:
- Catamaran crossing
- or by Inter Islands Boat departing from Rochefort. Commented discovery of Fort Boyard and stopover on the island of Aix
Once on the island:
- Walk and discover the Île d'Aix. The complete tour of the island is done in 2h30 on foot.
- Bike rental possible at Cyclaix, opposite the bakery 200m from the port. Possibility of renting trailers also, for your children and/or your dog. Remember to book in advance, especially in peak season…

For the snack:
- Restaurant Le Bar Beau Teint, where you can eat with a breathtaking view of the ocean
Day 7 - Coastal path between Saint Palais-sur-Mer and Royan
To end your week of family vacation with your dog on the Charente coast in style and make the most of your last day by exploring the treasures of the region, I suggest:
To start the morning:
- Invigorating walk on the customs officers' path with a view of the coast and the Atlantic Ocean. 3km walk between Royan and Saint-Palais-sur-Mer. To see along the way: Belle Epoque style villas, fishermen's squares, the Devil's Bridge... possibility of continuing towards the La Coubre forest for a longer walk.
To eat :
- the Modagor restaurant, opposite the fishing port of Royan, is dog-friendly.
The afternoon :
- Here's one last activity that your children will love. Planet Exotica: the exotic zoopark of Royan. Dinosaurs, snakes, crocodiles, mini farm, Indian village… There’s plenty to do! Dogs are accepted on a leash except in the “tropical” and “desert” greenhouses. Possibility of having lunch on site
