The Aven Forestière Cave: your dog is welcome here
Good news my four-legged brothers and sisters, the dogs! your humans are allowed here at La Grotte Aven Forestière in Southern Ardèche.
Friends of my friends, non-human animals, you are welcome home. Home because this place exists for visitors and their travel companions . First of all, to you humans, thank you for taking him on vacation without abandoning him on the side of the road despite his boundless love and devotion 😇. Thank you for cherishing him every day and making him your best friend 🥰. For that alone, you already have our respect and esteem 🙏.
We live with four dogs who function as a pack when they leave the couches. We cannot take them with us there because otherwise it would be you who would not be able to come with your friends 😉
We offer a visit to a natural but equipped cave, suitable for all ages . This is a truly unique exploration, as the visit is self-guided and conducted using extremely powerful professional headlamps . With fewer steps compared to other caves, the route, secured by barriers, is quite easy . Informative panels provide information about the underground world and its fauna.
Outside the cave, we offer numerous activities such as mini-golf , pedal karts (for adults, children, and even dogs ) , and plenty of board games and other activities . We invite you to visit the Grotte Aven Forestière website for more information.
Activities are organized, such as mineral workshops or even The Fossil Hunters' River!
You will also find a shop selling minerals and souvenirs.
Finally, a sweet snack bar to refresh yourself and discover new flavors.
Our entrance fee is the lowest of all the caves in the region in order to respect your bipedal wallet too.
The visit to the Aven Grotte Forestière is absolutely and totally free for dogs, they are our guests. Please note, it is completely forbidden to leave an animal in the car for even a few minutes.

We visited the cave with our dog. We received a fantastic welcome from passionate speleologists and dog lovers. That's actually what convinced us to go.
Access is easy, no metal stairs for our dog who's afraid of them, and by taking the time to read the information panels and observe, we spent an hour underground without noticing the time passing. We came out feeling peaceful.
Dogs simply need to be kept on a leash.
I highly recommend.
We came in May for a long weekend. What convinced us to visit this cave was the fact that they accept dogs AND the unusual nature of the tour.
Mysza was welcomed with open arms, she was given a bowl of water and a pat after taking care to ask us for it.
The visit was magical, firstly because we were alone in the cave (lucky break) and we were able to experience true darkness and silence once our lamps were turned off.
The owners are passionate about what they do and very enthusiastic when they share it!
Our dog didn't particularly enjoy the solitude of the depths, but she did appreciate the coolness of the place 😉
We visited the Aven Grotte Forestière in Ardèche with our dog! A great dog-friendly visit to Orgnac-l’Aven! The managers are super friendly and love animals, especially dogs. It was a good discovery during our stay in Ardèche.
The cave is very easy to access, there are only a few steps to climb! The visit is free using headlamps, no time limit. Dogs must simply be kept on a leash and you are of course asked not to let them urinate in the cave!
We also received good advice from the managers regarding walks in the surrounding area. Large free car park to park upon arrival. I really recommend this visit to do WITH your dog.
