Fontfroide Abbey: your dog is welcome here
The visit to the Fontfroide Abbey located near Narbonne in Aude is unfortunately not possible with your 4-legged companion but it offers 3 free places in a kennel, time for the owners to visit, 1h15 for us …not ideal of course but that’s it…
The cages are basic with a bowl of water but big enough all the same. We had brought our dog's transport kennel so that she felt safe and she had room around it.
The staff gives us a numbered token so that we can be the only ones to “claim” the dog at the end of the visit, they keep the keys to the cage and make regular rounds to see if everything is going well for our doggie… Small downside: when we arrived, at 15 p.m. in July, one of the cages was in the sun... Fortunately the other two were in the shade... otherwise we would of course have canceled!
At the end of the visit, we went to eat an ice cream at the snack bar/restaurant with our Nala, who is allowed on the terrace!
