The Wells of Hell: your dog is welcome here
We discovered a great walk to do with your dog along the Puits d'Enfer (Hell's Well). It's a stream located near Exireuil in the Val de Sèvre. A blend of legend and nature, the Puits d'Enfer is a tourist site worth discovering.
Looking to enjoy some respite from the heat during our holiday, we were delighted to find this shady spot with plenty of water features. Upon arriving near the stream, a sign indicated that dogs were allowed provided they were kept on a leash. So, for safety, we leashed our dogs for the duration of our walk. The site is lovely, and the water features were a delight for our four-legged companions.
The Puits d'Enfer (Hell's Well) isn't very busy: there were only two cars in the parking lot in mid-August. It's the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet and a refreshing dip with your dog! Our dogs were thrilled to be able to swim. However, it's important to be careful if your dog loves water, as the stones can be slippery and some parts of the path are steep.
A nice bonus: The parking lot is easily accessible and free 🙂

A great spot to cool off and have a picnic! There's actually almost no one in the parking lot, but that's normal given the fairly steep hike 😅 so make sure you wear good shoes!
