Welcome to London! A 100% dog friendly city 🙂 As far as the Pet attitude is concerned, the Anglo-Saxons are up to date: that's the least we can say. Traveling to London with a dog has never been easier. So if your pooch wants to meet new So British game partners, I invite you to discover the fabulous London adventure of Looping and Claire. They went on vacation there for a few days and when they got back, they had the good idea to come and share all their good plans for visiting this city with their hairy friend.
Claire and her dog, Looping
As a child, Claire fell in love with the border collie in the film "BABE pig of a shepherd". She knew immediately that she would adopt a dog like that later and not another breed. “I wanted an intelligent, lively, active dog, small in size, nice all around! ”
After some research in the classifieds, Claire and her companion decided to adopt a dog. “LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT” as our British say so well, for Claire and Looping it was the beginning of a beautiful story. “Basically my companion had decided that Loop would sleep in the living room and would not have access to the sofa or the bedroom… It lasted 3 days now he is the first to take him to sleep in the bedroom. haha :))”
To travel with your dog in London
Go to London? Before going on vacation with your dog, it is imperative that he is in the nails at the health level otherwise he will not be able to cross the border. There is no more quarantine but veterinary control is very strict. For example, vaccine stickers need to be laminated to be sure they are authentic…

Rabies vaccine should be given at least 21 days before travel
He must be dewormed 1 to 5 days before departure
and finally, you must have a certificate from your veterinarian confirming the good health of your animal.
When they left, Looping and Claire spent the Pet Control in Calais, then they waited quietly for the departure of the train.
What to do with your dog in London?
Looping and Claire wandered around Westminster with their dog. They were able to see Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, London eyes, Trafalgar Square, the Palace of Westminster, the Westminster Bridge, the Victoria Memorial… Know that theWestminster Abbey is dog friendly. According to Claire, the place is magnificent. She advises you to visit.
Then, to stretch Looping's legs, they went into the St James's Park, dog friendly (“Dogs are welcome in all the Royal Parks”!) For Harry Potter enthusiasts, know that it is possible to go to Pier 9 3/4 and take a picture with your dog. Claire left with a nice memory of her and Loop 😛
On the accommodation side, they found a dog friendly rental in london in Westminster: The Stylish Apartments in Victoria & Westminster. To eat, they opted for a dog-friendly pub. According to Claire, they all are in general: just ask before entering!
Traveling with your dog in London is child's play! No problem, dogs are accepted in the Eurotunnel (the shuttle) to England. It's 26€ per trip and per animal. On site, they tried a bit of everything with Loop: the famous red double-decker buses, the train, the metro or “underground”. If the dog is nice and calm there is no problem 🙂 You just have to carry it in the escalators and at the entrance to the underground. In general, they travel for free. On this point, there is serious progress to be made in France….
London is indeed a dog-friendly city. “She is well ahead of France!, according to Claire. She told us that all the English people stopped to pet Looping and say “Oh Cute!!!” If you were looking for where to spend your next vacation or an idea of WE to share with your dog: London is waiting for you!
Travel tips and anecdotes from Claire and her dog in London
London seems like an ideal destination for all dog lovers… I let Claire tell us a nice anecdote about her trip with her doggie and you will see that even its inhabitants are real dog-lovers:
"Haha yes! We had done a full day of walking, we were very tired. We later entered the 2nd floor in a dog friendly bus, all the way up front to enjoy the view. Looping started looking at me with his little eyes between open, I hugged him like a baby… And he fell asleep in seconds! A Londoner then literally melted on him all the way, she wanted to take him home because he was so endearing 😀 “
To end this article, I asked Looping and Claire for some final advice…
Even if it seems easy to enjoy the city with your dog, there are still many places that are forbidden to them. If you're traveling with people who don't like dogs as much as you do, they'll quickly get tired of staying behind the gates of London's beautiful landmarks…. And of course, you have to travel with an educated animal. The city is not a play area: there is a lot of traffic, you meet a lot of dogs and people… For a stay in the hair, doggies must master the rules of good conduct. Finally, you have to HAVE POOP BAGS because the fine costs almost £1 in the event of non-collection. And the English don't mess with that!
Claire loved her trip to London. His best memory? Walking around Westminster after dark was magical… Her worst memory? the ambulance sirens… Looping was scared every time…
