The Pyrenean ski resorts were less cooperative. Not easy to find information for you. Unfortunately, this shows that we, the 18 million French people who have a dog, are not taken seriously… In short, let's stay positive and focus on the resorts where we are welcome.
Musher and I present to you the ski station Font-Romeu accessible with a dog and the magnificent station North of Cap Cir, located in the Catalan Pyrenees: the perfect place to go skijoring with your dog. Font Romeu ski resort
I present to you the Font Romeu station where various marked paths are accessible for a magnificent walk in the Pyrenees with your dog! Discover some itineraries on this link.
The only hike that is not accessible to dogs is the one in the Eyne Valley, classified as a national nature reserve.
Don't worry about your dog's droppings, you will find cani-bags available at the Font-Romeu tourist office.
If you want to take advantage of being in the mountains to ski, you don't have to leave your dog alone at the hotel or in your rental. Laura Raynaud; dog trainer takes care of everything. She can take your dog for the day or even the whole week, she has a kennel in Font-Romeu with a large area so that they can stretch their paws.
Cap Cir Nordic Station
Combine cross-country skiing and mountain walks with the skijoring with your dog! You can make ski joëring in the Nordic resort of Capcir, on nearly 90 km of cross-country ski trails and 85 km of snowshoe trails! Too wow, isn't it?
You can go for walks, ski joëring and snowshoeing with your dog.
With a single package, CapCir has four different areas accessible:
Domaine La Quillane-Calvet, the Vallée du Galbe domain, the La Matte forest domain and the Lac de l'Olive domain in Formiguères.
Also enjoy magnificent landscapes by making hikes with your dog on Capcir marked trails but be careful respect the conditions, in the forest, you must keep your dog on a leash or within earshot.
- Domaine La Quillane
Between Font-Romeu and Les Angles, in the town of La Llagonne, La Quillane is a small Catalan snow resort. And become what? From this station you have a view of the Cambre d'Aze. On this Sector there are 3 loops of 9,5; 11,5 and 6 km or 27 km in total of track for go skijoring with your dog at La Quillane !
- Olive Lake Estate
Located in the heart of Capcir, in the Lac de l'Olive sector, you will find a first loop of 1 km in which you can go ski joëring with your dog at the start of the white route linking the lake to the forest of the Matte or the village of Matemale.
- Domaine de la Matte
You will find a 5,2 km loop and 7 km of groomed white routes between La Matte and Lac de l'Olive.
- Area of the Valley of the Galbe
A round trip of 11 km possible in ski-joëring with your dog!

Barege ski resort
We pass the paw to Nahé, young border cross labrador and his mistress Mawine who give us their dog friendly tips in the ski resort of Barège, located in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
Mawine:-“I found a rental from a private individual who let me come with Nahé. During my stay, I met other people who were renting a mobile home at the Happy Pyrénée campsite in Saligos in the Hautes-Pyrénées."
Super Good Plans Mawine, thank you very much! As a reminder, for those who go on a camping holiday with their animal: dogs must be tattooed and you must have their up-to-date vaccination record with you. They must be kept on a leash within the campsite. Lots of dog-friendly camping ideas here
Mawine:-“On the activity side, I did some snowshoeing with my dog on the trails offered by the resort (only half because the other half is on the sled dog track and therefore prohibited to our dogs). I was also able to take the shuttle that goes from the station to the start of the hikes. FYI, tracks 5 and 6 are accessible to dogs. To fill our stomachs, we were able to eat at the altitude bar-restaurant La Laquette (pets allowed), there is a magnificent view of the slopes from up there."
Iraty ski resort
We finally thank Elwin, young cocker spaniel 8 and a half years old and his mistress Amandine for informing us via the facebook page that it is also possible to make snowshoeing with your dog at the Iraty resort located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
Amanda: – "hiking trails are allowed to dogs but be careful in summer during the summer the leash is compulsory. On weekends, access to the Nordic trails is chargeable because the trails are groomed. We then took a picnic in the dog-friendly forest be careful in summer they must be kept on a leash when the cattle go out”
