That's it, summer is over and fall is here. With my female dog Louna and my mom, we went on vacation to the Landes mid-September and more precisely around Labenne-Ocean. We were accommodated in a cap-fun campsite. Unfortunately, we are a little disappointed by their reception… We paid 35€ extra for our dog for the week and yet we did not find any device like poop bags, or of doggie-bar to home…. However, we learned at the weekend that they had rented dog trailers.

We had planned to move mainly by bike. Before we left on vacation, I called several agencies to rent a trailer for my dog. Not easy to find one dog bike trailer rental, between those who are closed and those who refuse to rent child trailers for reasons hygiene. By dint of perseverance, I came across a small shop in Cape Breton, Ted Surf School, who agreed to rent a child trailer for Louna. Besides, I strongly advised them to invest in a dog trailer. A very warm and welcoming team love dogs. In addition, one of them gave us lots of good tips for walking with his dog.

Regarding the beaches, dogs are allowed except on the central beaches, that is to say where there are supervised bathing areas. Louna discovered the ocean and its beautiful waves and she was rather impressed!

Restaurateurs are on the whole dog friendly. I saw many people on terraces with their dog. We made two ( Nina coffee et O rendezvous) and on both, they found us a suitable place so as not to interfere with my dog and immediately brought us a bowl of water. In addition to their warm welcome, we ate very well!

We wanted to visit several places including natural reserves, but unfortunately many do not admit dogs for the protection of fauna and flora. But you are getting to know us, I looked for other places and with advice (either from the tourist office or from the Ted Surf School shop) so we visited Old Boucau with the turn of marine lake (note there are not many trash cans!).

In terms of hiking, we did that of Tuc of the Nine Churches with various very typical landscapes of Landes under the pines and on sandy paths. For the Landais, the term " you know » designates the top of a dune.
I also did a day in Spain with my dog and more precisely at Hondarribia where we skirted the point along the ocean. A wonderful ride with beautiful landscapes. We were only able to do a small part, but several Great Hikes along this coast. On the way back we made a stop in the magnificent little Basque town of Bidart where we tasted specialties.

There are also very friendly markets to do like the one to Old Boucau allowed to dogs and markets. Be careful, however, in the market halls of Capbreton, our friends dogs are not allowed. On the contrary, the Halls of Hossegor (much more typical of the area) allow our companions on a leash of course.

The best memory of Marlène and Louna
When we weren't taking the car, we were traveling by bike with our dog. There are many cycle paths very pleasant to take. Louna was therefore in his dog trailer. If at first she was not very comfortable, at the end she took a liking to it! Good on the other hand if you are not used to cycling like me, know that it makes the calves !
We loved our stay at the Landes with my dog. Indeed, the period is conducive to a pleasant weather, milder temperatures than summer, less people and more laid back mentality. It is a territory rather dog friendly because we saw a lot of people with their dogs and what a pleasure to see that!
