Sabine and her beauceron, a successful adoption
Havana is a 6-year-old Beauceronne, whom I adopted when she was 2 months old. It was still a very cuddly little ball of fur! 6 years later, my dog has grown well and she is still overflowing with affection and energy! My dog is my double, she has the same character as me, but dog version 🙂 We are more than fusional, it's a real pot of glue. Havana loves water, streams, puddles... As a good landaise, she loves pine cones, but also sticks and her tennis ball. I could spend hours throwing her dick in the water, she never gets tired of this game. She also loves to sit on my feet and spread out on top of me for cuddles…
I chose the breed beauceron, because I have a preference for large dogs. Sheepdogs are smart and lovable with families, and they are quite patient with children. They are also very protective and often fused with their masters. Also, the black and tan color is gorgeous. Having a dog of this size involves training. So we went to puppy school. You should know that in adulthood a Beauceron weighs more than 40 kilos. It is therefore necessary to be able to control your dog. It also allows them to be socialized. Havana only plays with dogs that are her size, neither bigger nor smaller… The beauty is demanding!

What to do in Biscarrosse with your dog?
With my dog, I love to go for a walk by the water on sunny days so that Havana can cool off and play crazy in the water. She needs to let off steam, otherwise she goes in circles. At the ocean, she does not go into the water except to soak her paws. In any case, I don't want her to swim, it's still dangerous, especially at the edge of the Atlantic. There are sometimes strong waves and especially current. On the other hand, in Brittany, where I come from, my dog loves to bathe in the sea when it is calm.

In Biscarrosse, our lakes (unsalted) are more suitable for bathing doggies. Our favorite spot is Biscarrosse ville, on the edge of the lake Latécoère. In winter, we rather walk in the forest with my dog. When it rains, we are a little more sheltered under the trees! My dog also participates in family jogging, since she runs next to us in freedom and even takes the time to bathe and then join us. Sometimes I also do bike with my dog on the bike path. It is important for us to adapt to his rhythm and to take breaks. For example, you can walk along the Biscarrosse lake, it's flat and you can stop at the beach at the same time. The advantage in Biscarrosse is that there are cycle paths everywhere to go with your dog: along the lake, the Trans-Aquitain canal and in the forest. When I was younger, my dog, who loves water, rode the paddle, but she tended to move too much, so as she grew up it became a little unstable to navigate. On the other hand, for calmer doggies, the paddle with his dog it's really a sport Too W'ouf!
In Biscarrosse, the hiking trails are all allowed to dogs and water activities are also very popular. Even if it is sometimes complicated to take your dog everywhere, I know that the boat rental company “Charlet Nautic” accepts dogs on board. Dog-friendly beaches in Biscarrosse
In Biscarrosse Plage, dogs are tolerated on a leash north of the Vivier beach and south of south beach.
In Biscarrosse Lac, dogs are prohibited on the beaches but they are authorized on a leash beyond the beach. I advise you to settle under the pines located all along the lake, you will be in the shade with your dog and more peaceful. The beaches of the lake are not very wide, you will still be near the water 😉
À guest (17 km from Biscarrosse Ville), dogs are tolerated on the small beach in front of the motorhome area.
À Sainte-Eulalie-en-Born (23 km from Biscarrosse Ville), dogs are allowed on a leash on the grassy part of the beach and so that they can bathe freely, by taking the cycle path on the right and walking about 200 meters, there there is a quiet little beach. These beaches are wild, calmer, there are trees to settle in the shade, I really like the tranquility of these lakesides and I invite you to discover them!

The essentials of Biscarrosse with your dog
With my dog, I love the Latécoère site on the edge of the southern lake in Biscarrosse ville. It is a large green space where you meet a lot of dog owners, which allows dogs to go play with their friends. There are "poop bags" all over the site to deal with the little gifts left by our doggies. It's calm and soothing, it's one of our favorite places. There is also a small bowling alley and a children's play area. No jealousy, the whole family will be busy!
Along theAvenue Pierre-Georges Latécoère, you can access a small path accessible on foot and by bike, which runs along the shores of the southern lake. The edges of the marshes are maintained by animals (Irish cows, donkeys, horses), it is shaded and it allows you to discover Biscarrosse in a different way, with a wilder nature. There are few people there, so the dog is completely free! There is a fence around the wildlife area so no problem as long as your dog is obedient.
Last advice for going to Biscarrosse with your dog
Traveling with a large dog requires having a car with enough space. Miss Havana travels in the back with a Safety harness, so she can travel comfortably and safely.

We also tested the motorhome vacation in which my dog was attached with her harness during the journeys and she adapted well. As long as there is water when arriving to bathe she is happy! On the road, you have to remember to stop regularly to hydrate your dog and make him stretch a little.
In the Southwest, it is very hot in full sun. If you want to enjoy the ocean beaches, go there in the morning it will be quieter and more pleasant for you and your dog, or at the end of the afternoon. And above all remember to bring a parasol to shade your dog, because on the long ocean beaches of the Landes, there are no trees, only dunes. And fresh water of course, that goes without saying. The most wonderful moment is when the sun sets and it's cool!
When you have a dog, especially a large one, some people look at you a little sideways for fear of dogs or ignorance of the breed. In Biscarrosse, there is a high attendance in July and August, which is why at the lake we put ourselves a little further away or we go there at less busy times to be quieter. If you can, I advise you to come to Biscarrosse with your dog between April and June or in September. It must be said that in the off-season, the weather and the colors are magnificent!

Bravo and thank you for your site. It is always difficult to arrive with your dog in an unknown region not knowing the places and tips that will allow us to enjoy peacefully. Noisette is 7 months old, we are very close and we do lots of things together, walks, swimming, motorbikes. She loves swimming with me. I adopted Noisette to share everything and take her everywhere with us as much as possible. Your site helps me prepare our vacation in Biscarosse in 15 days 😀.
