Let me introduce you to this destination , just two hours south of Paris. For the past few months, the region has been compiling a list of everything there is to do with your dog , and I can tell you, there's plenty to do!
Pack your bags and come enjoy a breath of fresh air in Berry with your dog . Follow me, I'll take you to discover Berry for a weekend or a longer holiday in the countryside with your canine companion.
What to do in Berry with your dog
Before telling you about all the activities you can do with your dog in Berry, let me give you a better idea of this lovely corner of France. Berry occupies roughly the southern part of the Centre-Val de Loire region. The capital of Berry is Bourges. This former province is made up of two departments: Indre and Cher. Got your bearings? Then let's go, follow me as we explore Berry . I hope you don't have any plans this weekend because you're going to want to head to this part of the Loire Valley 😉
- Beaches, lakes and swimming spots accessible with a dog
If your idea of a holiday means the beach, Berry is the place for you! While Berry doesn't have a sea, there are still plenty of places to swim with your dog . Here are a few ponds and lakes accessible with your dog in Berry :

Why not try the Valençay railbike, the Bas-Berry steam train, a trip on the Loire aboard the Épinoche, or even rent a bike with a special dog trailer to explore the Berry Canal or cycle a section of the Loire à Vélo route? You can even rent a canoe from the Bourges Canoë Kayak Club to enjoy a trip on Lake Auron or play golf with your dog on one of Berry's dog-friendly courses. I told you: the hardest part will be choosing!

I'm going to disappoint you a little, but you won't be able to explore the impressive Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Bourges or the Jacques Coeur Palace in Bourges with your dog . However, while George Sand's house is also off-limits to dogs, our companions are welcome in the gardens. Here are a few ideas for sites and visits to try with your dog in Berry:

Perfect for an easy weekend getaway, whether planned in advance or spontaneously because you need to recharge after a tough week! The Berry region is easily accessible with your dog , with or without a car! You can even enjoy a completely car-free weekend by exploring Berry by bike. From Bourges, you can cycle along route number 46: the Coeur de France à vélo (Heart of France by Bike) route. It's an ideal way to explore the Berry countryside with your dog.
