Le Yelloh! Village La Petite Camargue campsite : it lives up to its name! Very well located in Aigues-Mortes, it is at the heart of everything that represents the CamarguePonds and canals with flamingos and many other migratory birds, meadows with black cows and white Camargue horses, and close to the most beautiful villages of Camargue. Dogs are allowed in the accommodation, but also in the campsite restaurant ! And there is a canidouche to rinse your dog after swimming in the salt water (or in the swamps 🤡). 🦩 Walks in the Camargue salt marshes
Did you know that the name “Camargue” comes from an old Provençal dialect and means “field covered with water”? This is exactly the definition of the Camargue, and that's why there are so many salt marshes and rice fields. But it's also why it's often difficult to access them! Some areas are still developed while remaining quite wild. And many are allowed dogs, to our great delight!
⭐ W'ouf's trick: The Camargue Regional Natural Park is open to dogs ! Not all PNRs are fully accessible with dogs, so we're lucky that the Camargue National Park is dog-friendly! However, it's an exceptional refuge for biodiversity, so keep your dog on a leash to prevent him from destroying everything. There may be bird nests on the ground or interesting small animals to prey on, so by staying on the marked trails with him, you're helping to protect the species.
I recommend two walks lasting several hours, but you can also do just one section. The path is flat, making it ideal for the whole family.
- A loop between sea and salt marshes in Camargue, with plenty of spots for birdwatching enthusiasts. 21 km to enjoy the serenity of the Camargue.
- A round trip or loop to the tip of Beauduc, with lagoons, beaches and 31th-century remains. Plan the whole day if you want to do it all, as it’s XNUMX km long!
To find other circuits to do in the Camargue Natural Park with your dog, you can download the Park leaflet here.
🐕 Here are some more typical Camargue walks in the salt marshes. Always keep your dog on a leash 😉
- The salt marshes of Saint-Laurent-d'Aigouze: go to the Carbonnière tower by the wooden pontoon to admire a magnificent panorama of the Camargue
- 2 trails are allowed for dogs in the protected natural site of Méjean in Lattes
- Walk in Villeneuve-lès-Maguelones, on the side of the Slavonian to see the ponds, or sea side
- The Aresquiers circuit in Frontignan: you can walk in the salt marshes or in the woods to enjoy the cool air
- Several loops in the former salt marshes of Frontignan, protected natural site
🌅 Little tip: discover the Camargue at sunset, it's truly magnificent. Look at those colors!!! And I didn't even retouch the photo!
🚴 Bike rides with your dog in the Camargue
You can also explore the Camargue by bike with your dog! In fact, the La Petite Camargue campsite (which I mentioned above) can rent them to you 😉 Here are some routes:
- Le tour of the Vaccarès pond and that of Monro in the Camargue bird sanctuary, in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer
- A loop in the salt marshes of Saint-Laurent-d'Aigouze from the Carbonnière tower
- Along Ingril pond : from Aresquiers to Frontignan or vice versa, a peaceful and magnificent landscape
- Along the Rhône-Sète canal : it crosses the entire Camargue, from the Petit Rhône river at Saint-Gilles to the sea at Sète. It also passes through Aigues-Mortes, Le-Grau-du-Roi, Carnon and Frontignan.

✅ Points to watch out for when enjoying the Camargue with your dog
The Camargue is magnificent, but there are still a few things to consider to get there safely.
- Swamp : If your dog wanders off, he could fall into a swamp and have trouble getting out. All the more reason to always keep him on a leash!
- La heat in summer : it can be very very hot, even if the salt marshes and the sea bring a little coolness. 👉 Our article on heatstroke in dogs can help you prevent or react to them.
- spikelets : From spring to the end of summer, there are some everywhere... Check carefully what your dog is sniffing. After each walk, I advise you to do a "delousing" session to remove all the foxtails. Look carefully between his toes, Musher always has some here and we don't see them right away!
- processionary caterpillars : these little creatures are extremely dangerous for dogs as well as for us. The Camargue borders the scrubland, where there are plenty of pines and oaks, their favorite trees. 👉 Read our article on processionary caterpillars to avoid the worst. The good plan: the Aresquiers woods, which I mentioned above! There were pine trees but no caterpillar nests in sight when I went there, for the last time in 2025. A joy!
Well, there, I think that you have plenty to do for a walk in the Camargue with your dog ! But if you have other spots, don't hesitate to share them with us by leaving a review 👇 I hope you have an incredible vacation in Camargue with your dog!

Thanks to you, I was able to find places, beaches, etc. accessible to dogs. I was able to organize our vacations, on the Island of Oléron and in the Morvan, thanks to you. And even today, when we plan to go on vacation with our Tyla, Border Collie, I go to your site to find a destination compatible with her! A huge thank you!
