To tell you everything, we have a lot of trouble finding reliable information to send you to enjoy the joys of winter sports with your dog.

I myself have already gone skiing with Musher and I realized that very few resorts had thought of families with dogs…. Not easy to find something to do with your dog! That's why I wanted to highlight the few alpine resorts that invite us to their homes with pleasure!

Before leaving, will you have to book your accommodation for the holidays? Dog-friendly hotelgite accepting dogs or even rental dogs accepted : you will find a large choice of dog-friendly accommodation in the “accommodation" of the site. Remember to book with our partners.

Orcières Merlette resort in the Hautes-Alpes

Take Your Dog - Orcières Merlette resort in the Hautes-Alpes accepting dogs

Head to the Hautes Alpes to start. You will find beautiful walks to share with your best 4-legged friend. Before presenting you with the good tips of the resort, I draw your attention to the ski area and its dangers. During the opening hours of the slopes, do not walk your dog on the slopes, it is prohibited because it is ultra mega super dangerous.

Imagine a skier going full tilt and “skiing” onto your dog's paw or worse, making a sun on top of it… This is the skiers' domain, you have nothing to do there.

However, if you want to skiing with your dog, I advise you to opt for cross-country skiing. It is possible to make cross-country skiing leisure centre with his dog.

You will surely meet our friends the huskies who are not idle during the holidays: they offer dog sled outings with their musher.

So take care with your dog so that there is no bad encounter. Huskies “work” and won't always be happy to be “bothered” by your holiday dog.

From the leisure base, there are also several walks to do with your dog on snowshoes on groomed and marked trails. Here are some great tips that are 100% fun with your dog!

  • Le Forest des Estaris: 1 hour round trip, a walk to alpine chalets on marked but ungroomed trails.
  • The Forest des Marches loop: 2h30/3h a balcony loop that passes through alpine chalets and the hamlet of Les Marches.
  • The descent to the hamlets and the leisure base.
  • You can also take a nice walk around the Orcière lakes.

Good to know: canisacs are available in the resort. The Tourist Office offers a winter version map of these trails for €2.

As I told you in the article Canine first aid training: useful for the holidays Unfortunately, we are never safe from a small glitch! If your dog catches a little cold, know that there is a vet clinic about thirty minutes from the station at Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur. It's good to know.

Didn't come by car or don't want to use it on vacation? You can take the public transport from the station with your dog. They are accepted in the shuttles of the regular GAP-Orcière Merlette 1850 line as well as in the free shuttles which serve the leisure center from the resort all year round!

TakeTonChien - Les Gets, Ski resort in Haute-Savoie accepting dogs

Musher is a big fan of snow. It is a follower of the slide on the belly. She climbs up the slope and lets herself slide down with her legs apart. I love when she does that, she makes me laugh so much. And I see in her eyes that she is having fun!

The resort of Les Gets shared with us a list of walks to do with your doggie:

  • The tour of Mont Chéry where you can reach the village of Alpage de Mont-Caly, view of the Mont Blanc range!
  • Nauchets belvedere
