Take and print your best photos

Before taking a picture of your dog, it's best to know what you want to do with it. This allows you to take it immediately in its final format, and not have any problems with cropping afterwards.

👉 Moreover, for a quality print, you can print your photo products on MYPOSTER. Framed photo, wall decoration, photo album, calendar, accessories… You can do it all personalize with your best photo of you and your dog, to remind you of this beautiful memory every time you see it.

Now, here are some tips for taking the best possible photos of you and your dog. These are especially good to share with the person who will be taking your photo 😉

  • Choose a day with beautiful light
  • Use the auto focus, unless you know how to handle the settings
  • Get down to your dog's level, look at him, and call him to look at you: we want to see your complicity ????
  • Concerning framing the photo :
    • Use a tripod for more stability and a clearer photo
    • Use the rule of thirds: one shot per third, and the main subjects (you and your dog) either in one third or in the middle on a line. Here's an example with the photo 😉
    • Opt for a wide shot and play with perspective: you're in an Instagrammable place, it would be a shame not to see it in the photo!

⚠️ Before revealing these beautiful places, here are a few precautions to take: Make sure you pick up all your waste, as well as your dog's. Respect the places and also make sure that your dog behaves well with the people you meet. These places are precious, it would be a shame if they became forbidden to dogs because of the behavior of a few people...

Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the heart of the matter!

The 5 emblematic places of the South of France

These 5 places are sure to guarantee you an Instagrammable photo with your dog in the South of France! And yes...: I can't guarantee good weather... or that your dog will want to stay put! Check carefully before you go, to avoid any unpleasant surprises 😉

  • The Col de la Forclaz, in Haute-Savoie

Let's start with the most beautiful view of Lake Annecy and the Haute-Savoie mountains! You can take your photo with your dog right from the parking lot. Alternatively, you can also walk a few kilometers to find other magnificent views alone in the world.

🚗 Easy to park off-season. In summer, it can get very crowded, so it's best to get there early. Paid parking is available from May to September.

🥾 Take the opportunity to enjoy several well-marked hikes from the Col de la Forclaz. Distance: 4 to 16 km. Moderate (it's uphill!) to difficult.

  • The Provençal Colorado, in the heart of the Luberon

Tested and validated with Musher! The Colorado Provençal is an exceptional site, classified as a Natural Monument of Historic Character. Indeed, this former ochre quarry offers impressive colors! Access to the Rustrel site is subject to a fee. It gets very crowded in summer and very hot, so it's best to go there off-season.

🧡 Ochre stains, including your dog! If he rolls in the sand, or worse, if he swims in the few water points, he risks coming back orange 😂 But it's fun for him, and it can be a beautiful souvenir in the photo!

🐛 Beware of processionary caterpillars which may be present in spring.

  • The Calanques of Marseille

Who doesn't know the Calanques of Marseille for their crystal clear water and steep cliffs? It's just incredible and magical to see with your dog! The Calanques are definitely one of the 5 places I loved discovering with Musher! Once again, it's best to go there off-season. And don't be afraid of heights because some parts are really on the cliffside...

💡 For a truly unique photo, head to the entrance of Calanque d'en Vau by sea. Canoeing or paddleboarding with your dog will give you the best view! Calanque de Sugiton is also impressive from above!

  • Lavender fields on the Valensole plateau

I don't know about you, but I love photos of dogs with their humans in lavender fields 🪻 The most famous spot for this is the Valensole plateau, in the Verdon Natural Park. Above all, don't trample the crops and don't pick the lavender! Enjoy its soothing scent, truffle in the wind.

📆 The best time to see lavender in bloom is short: mid-June to late July. It varies from year to year, but lavender can be harvested as early as mid-July, so go before then!

🐝 Where there's flowers and good smells, there's also pollinators. Bees, bumblebees, wasps, butterflies... So if you or your dog are allergic to stings, I unfortunately advise you not to go to lavender fields.

  • The Carlit lakes

Another gem in the South of France, and more specifically in the Pyrénées Orientales: the Carlit lakes. It's simply magnificent to see these lakes in the middle of the mountains. The Bouillouses lake is also very beautiful, but a little busier because it's at the parking lot. You can walk around it to get away from it all with your dog and enjoy a beautiful view. There are horses roaming free everywhere 🐎

🚘 Parking at Lac des Bouillouses. You have to arrive very early in the morning during the summer to secure a spot. In any case, between 7 a.m. and 19 p.m., the road is closed to cars. You can only access it by shuttle bus, where dogs are allowed if they wear a muzzle. More info here. ⚠️ Access closed in winter due to snow.

⛰️ To reach the Carlit lakes, you can choose the 9 or 12 lakes loop. They are very sporty, Musher started to get tired at the end of the 6th lake!

Now you have the choice for the spot for your next photos with your dog! It's the opportunity to share a magnificent adventure and immortalize it ❤️

And you, what is the most beautiful place you have visited with your dog in the South of France?
