Rent a motorhome or a van for your holidays with your dog
Before writing this article, I obviously tested Yescapa for you! And I can assure you that renting a motorhome or a van with your dog is really simple. Arriving on site Yescapa.co.uk, you will need to fill in 2 pieces of information: your place of departure and your travel dates.
I tested by indicating my small village near Montpellier for a weekend with my dog in February. The site offered me a first selection of vehicles. Thanks to the filters available, I was able to refine my search on several criteria such as the number of seats, the number of beds, if I rather wanted a motorhome or a van and above all I was able to tick the criterion which interests everyone: “Animals allowed” on board.
The site therefore offered me a list of vehicles corresponding to my expectations.
The prices indicated correspond to the price for the duration of the stay that you have entered. For my part, I was therefore looking to rent the vehicle for 2 days; this type of rental is not counted in nights as in conventional accommodation, but in days.
Note that the price indicated is based on a mileage package of 100 km/day. I did not know this principle but if you want to do more than 100 km per day with the rented vehicle, you will therefore have to take a higher mileage package. Some rentals do not allow you to exceed 200 km/day... So be careful if you want to rent a vehicle in Montpellier to spend a holiday in a motorhome touring Brittany, you will surely have to think about renting the motorhome somewhere. go to Brittany!
Once these elements are known, all you have to do is choose the vehicle and the owner-renter! As on other well-known rental platforms, holidaymakers leave comments and reviews about their stays. And they can even submit some photos of their vacation. This is how a converted van from a certain Romain caught my attention. Léna, who had gone on vacation with her puppy, had posted her opinion on her ad and warmly recommended this “little house on wheels”.
Note that it is not possible to reserve the vehicle in one click! For an owner, it is difficult to rent his personal vehicle to a stranger. So you will first have to introduce yourself, introduce the other travellers, give him a little more information about your trip and present your itinerary for example... And of course, if your dog is part of the trip, it's time to present your loulou. Warn the owner of the vehicle of his presence, even if he will be delighted to welcome him, it is the least you can do.
There you go, renting a motorhome or a camper van from Yescapa to go on vacation with your dog, it's as simple as that! All you have to do is hit the road, you, your dog and your family to enjoy the freedom of this mode of travel.
A little insurance info on the way: Yescapa offers you an insurance solution adapted to the specificities of the rental of motorhomes and converted vans between individuals. Thus, each rental includes insurance.

Before renting the vehicle, motorhome, van or campervan of your dreams, you may still have a few questions about this mode of vacation. Is it for you?

And your dog in all this? Will he like it? Sniffing new smells every day, discovering new places, making new friends... Our dogs are routine animals and are happy when they are with their masters, so if you follow a few simple rules, your dog will love his camping holidays. -car or fitted out van. What are the rules for holidays with your dog?
– Keep his routine: bowl time, pee time, his basket, his favorite toys…
– If he finds a few familiar elements in the vehicle, he will quickly find his marks.
– For him too, it was a vacation in complete freedom, once he passed the door of the vehicle, he found himself as free as the air. If your dog is too curious and tends to run away, security measures are in order. Maybe he needs to be tied down so he doesn't risk escaping. No need for a short leash, but you can buy a lanyard to attach to the camper or van.
One last point about your dog:
– He must travel safely in the vehicle; either attached by a dog seat belt or in a transport crate. You have to apply the same rules as if he were traveling in your car. It must not be able to wander around the passenger compartment and interfere with your driving, or even turn into a projectile in the event of an accident...
I now give the floor to Nathan who rented a motorhome for his holidays with his dog thanks to Yescapa! His testimony is invaluable in understanding how things are going at Yescapa and perhaps imagining your future stay!
Nathan rented a motorhome with his dog from Yescapa
Nathan and Pauline had never traveled in a motorhome. A few months ago, they embarked on their first vacation with Robin, a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd x Border Collie. They found it complicated to rent a dog-friendly gîte so they thought of renting a motorhome!
They hesitated between a motorhome and a camper van, but they quickly opted for a motorhome with their dog: more spacious, more amenities such as a kitchen for example or the hold to put Nathan's bikes and paddle board... The van seemed to them too small to be comfortable for two + a dog and all their vacation equipment. They went through the ads on the Yescapa site and selected their vehicle by sending a message to the rental company. They presented their travel plan and their little Robin, of course. And it matched!
Nathan, Pauline and their dog set off to explore Northern Brittany and ended their road trip with their dog on the Crozon Peninsula! I don't know if you know the pink granite coast and Perros-Guirrec but I know it and I can tell you that they had a great time and were amazed.
They chose to stop at motorhome areas or camping pitches to have access to water and be able to drain. And then, if it is easy to park a van almost everywhere, this is not the case for a motorhome since it is a much larger vehicle.
On the dog side, Robin loved his trip! He discovered incredible spots but as he is a curious and very sociable young dog, Nathan and Pauline feared that he would go around all the motorhomes at each stop so they had planned 2 options: a lanyard attached to the step of the motorhome to allow him to frolic in front of the motorhome but this option proved to be a headache because Robin was getting tangled everywhere… and a removable enclosure which served as a VIP area for him as you see in Nathan's photos. This option turned out to be perfect for Robin: a good compromise for his security. Robin caused a sensation at each of their stops: as soon as Nathan left his seat to go shopping, Robin got behind the wheel of the motorhome and followed him with his eyes ready to press the horn to tell Nathan to hurry up. little. He made many passers-by laugh a lot!
Any final advice from Nathan? With Pauline, they loved the Kléder motorhome area in Finistère, very wild and remote from the world. And he also told me about the Fréhel campsite where they had a great time. I also recommend the coastal path between Fort Lalatte and Cap Fréhel! I have wonderful memories of fishing for spiders at the foot of the fort…

I don't know about you but personally this article made me want to travel! I've even spotted a few vehicles on Yescapa that would be perfect for a family road trip with Musher. All that remains is to find vacation days to explore a new corner. I have cravings for Luberon with my dog right now. To be continued…!
