Your dog: the star of your holiday photo album
Which Wouafer's doesn't have 1000 photos of his dog on his phone? Your dog is fussing on the beach: Kodak click clac, it's in the box. He sleeps 4 irons in the air: you draw your camera! You are in the mountains, and the landscape is magnificent? It is he who poses in the photo to immortalize the moment. For a yes or a no, our dogs are the stars of our cameras! On every walk, I take my dog's picture… because there's a nice sunset, because it's spring, flowers everywhere and I want to capture these pretty colors, because she meets friends furry and that I have fun taking funny photos of their chases. In short, I take pictures of my dog from every angle. And you?
The real question is: what to do with these photos? Leave them in your phone and forget about them? Personally, I love finding all these photos when I travel by plane. Having no network for a few hours, I immerse myself with delight in all these photo and video memories of my dog and my family! Even if Musher occupies 80% of my phone memory, I promise I also photograph the other members of my family…. 😉
Even if I look at my photos on my phone, I also opted for the photo print! and very regularly I make creations like photo albums or posters. I even invaded my fridge with photo magnets to the delight of my granddaughter who has fun sticking them on and taking them off.
The condition for printing photos is to make pretty photos! Here is a practical tutorial to take beautiful photos of your dog and your whole family!
A photo album with my dog
We would all like to have adopted the magic dog that will never be sick and will accompany us all our lives. But we know that our hairy people have a very (too!) short life expectancy and, one day, there will only be lovely memories and wonderful anecdotes of their passage through our lives.
Le Photo album is an ideal solution to immortalize those precious memories. I make one at the end of each vacation and when I have a moment of nostalgia, I take out this precious book and rediscover our memories with pleasure.
I make a selection of the best photos of my vacation and I add little captions with the anecdotes of our vacation. Musher is almost on all the photos, W'ouf course. The photo book allows me to immortalize and collect my most beautiful moments with my pet in an adorable photo book. I'm a fan of this format. I choose a ready-made model and personalize it with my photos. The result is always on top and I treasure these precious books! Frankly, I could almost make a “Martine” type collection: my dog at the beach, my dog in Brittany, my dog is testing hiking equipment, my dog is camping, my dog's misfortunes in the snow…. These photo books are true chapters of life. It's my own little treasure!
Photo tutorial: photographing your dog like a pro
Print your photos or make a photo album, the idea is appealing; still need some cool pictures! And photographing your pet is not always easy. He moves, doesn't sit where you want, faces the lens...
As promised, here are some tips for taking beautiful shots without being a professional photographer and without having a competition camera! You'll take great pictures with your phone's camera if you follow these simple rules.
A fundamental thing to know to start: your dog hates your camera! Most dogs can't stand having our camera or phone pointed at them. We often notice in the photos dogs licking their muzzles, turning their heads away or even yawning… All these gestures are signals of appeasement reflecting the discomfort of the situation. So your photo shoot should be fun and short!
The first rule to take pretty pictures of your dog is to get his agreement! I'm not talking about image rights here, huh. Toutou is not going to sue you for the use of his image… It's just that if your dog doesn't want to do a photo shoot, you won't get nice shots. He will look elsewhere, turn around, sulk… In short, the session risks being complicated and the photo totally missed. If your dog doesn't feel like starring in front of your camera, don't pressure him. Stay later!
The second rule for unforgettable shots of your pet is the decor! Getting a nice photo when it's dark is reserved for very good cameras and pros who know how to play with the settings to take advantage of this low light. For pretty photos, forget the fallen night and the gray days with the low ceiling! Especially since your flash may go off. Besides the fact that it's super unpleasant for your pet's eyes, you risk having a red eye phenomenon in the photo... Then choose a nice decor. It seems logical but it is good to remember it! The decor makes all the difference in your photo.
And for a top rendering, put yourself at the height of the animal to take a picture. Do not take it while standing in dive mode. It'll crush your dog and the effect, unless it's expressly what you're looking for, frankly won't be great!
If you have a burst mode on your camera, this is great to try! It will allow you to take lots of pictures and capture the expression you wanted to photograph. It's not easy to press the right hair trigger when your dog has that particular look you just wanted to capture.
And especially at the end of the session, you have to reward your dog. It is fundamental. Few dogs are fans of photos as I told you above so for him to appreciate these moments and for you to be able to capture the most beautiful memories of holidays to print pretty photo books or pretty shots, teach him that by end of the session, he will be entitled to a treat and in the future, he should play the game with more enthusiasm. Let him live his life and enjoy his vacation, don't play the paparazzi...
Well, I hope that thanks to all these tips, you will now take Too W'ouf photos of your dog. Share them with the #emmenetonchien on Instagram !! I will be happy to discover your most beautiful vacation photos!
