Troyes with a dog, a historic center not to be missed
I can't start this article without talking about the historic center of the city. Troyes is mainly known for this! Strolling through its cobbled streets is like stepping back in time. The medieval heritage is incredibly well preserved, and Troyes boasts colorful half-timbered houses that look like they've stepped straight out of a fairytale setting. Musher and I loved it; it's so pretty!
To give you a little guided tour, let's start with the heart of Troyes: its city center has an amazing champagne cork shape, a nod to its geographical location in the heart of Champagne ! This particular shape is also visible on a map!
In this “cork”, you will find a concentration of visits not to be missed:
- the sublime Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral : your dog won't be able to get in, but the facade is worth a look!
- Gothic churches on every street corner,
- lively places like Liberation Square where you can eat or have a drink on the terrace.
Troyes offers ideal walks to do with your dog, taking the time to admire the details of the facades, to sit in the small parks or to take a photo break in emblematic places like the Cat Alley, ultra photogenic with its houses that almost touch each other in height. In short, the center of Troyes is a must-see for all lovers of history, architecture, and four-legged walks!
Now let's move on to the gardens where you can walk in the greenery with your dog.
A quick break from your reading: if you're like me and always afraid your dog will escape when you're out walking, a GPS for dogs will change your life.

Musher and Sophie's anecdote: By the way, it was on these banks that we had a little mishap with Musher… She was less than a year old and not yet a very good recaller. Like a fish in its element, she threw herself into the water, but in really terrible water… She went super far, it was one of the first times so I was really scared that she wouldn't have the strength to come back! Without further ado, I also threw myself into the water to retrieve her… I won't tell you the smell 🤢 We came back soaked and stinky, but all's well that ends well… I can tell you that after that, I really worked on her recall 😅
