Where can I park my car in Barcelona with my dog?

Barcelona is the second most populated and most active city in Spain. If you're arriving by car, here's some tips for easy parking :
- Arrive outside of peak hours to avoid traffic jams as much as possible;
- Find a parking spot among the 200 secure car parks in Barcelona using an app like Parclick to save time and find a space easily. For example, you can plan to arrive at a Barcelona airport parking and choose the cheapest one, or the one best located in relation to your exit;
- Opt for a covered parking lot if it's summer and hot, to avoid putting your dog in an oven when you get back in the car!
💡 Good to know: the Barcelona metropolitan area has implemented a Low Emission Zone, which restricts access for the most polluting vehicles within its territory. It only applies on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 20 p.m. (so not on weekends or public holidays).
👉 To drive in Barcelona while the Low Emission Zone is in effect, you must register your vehicle on the AMB website. However, this measure has been suspended since early February 2026 due to disruptions to the rail network. Check an official website before you travel!
If you are not coming to Barcelona by car with your dog, there is also the option of coming by train or plane.
Arriving in Barcelona by train or plane with your dog
Traveling by train or plane to Barcelona is perfectly fine with a dog.
🚅 If you wish travel by train to BarcelonaThe main train station is Barcelona Sants, right in the heart of the city. Your dog will be able to travel on international trains according to the conditions of SNCF or Renfe (the Spanish equivalent of SNCF):
- Small dogs under 10 kg in a closed basket measuring a maximum of 45 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm for SNCF and 60 x 35 x 35 cm for Renfe
- SNCF: Larger dogs are not allowed on international trains
- Renfe: Dogs between 10 and 40 kg are allowed on a leash and muzzle.
- A special ticket and your dog's paperwork (up-to-date passport) will be required.

Taking Barcelona's public transport with your dog
✅ Good news, Dogs are welcome on buses, metros and trams in Barcelona !
🚇🚋 The conditions for your dog to ride in the Metro and streetcar Barcelonans with you are:
- 1 dog per adult;
- either in a closed transport basket, or muzzled and kept on a leash of less than 50 cm throughout the journey and in stations and stops;
- Dogs can take the elevators and stairs, but not the escalators;
- Your dog must travel at your feet, without getting on the seats.

🚆 Please note that dogs are also allowed in the FGC trains, which travel around the Barcelona region, under the same conditions.
