Waterfall Le Saut de Gouloux

The hike is 8.77km that you will do on average in 3h05 (it all depends on your pace and your breaks).

I invite you to keep your dogs on a leash, because you will pass very close to private properties in Gouloux.

It is advisable to have a map and/or a compass.

The Cascade du Gouloux is located in the town of Gouloux, which is 5 kilometers from Saint-Brisson. It is the stream "le Caillot" which falls into an old fault which created the overhang, ending in a 10-meter-high cascade.

The Cascade de Gouloux is located deep in the forest so you cannot see it from the road. You discover it as you go along thanks to the sound of the water which will get louder when you approach the place you are looking for.

When you access it, you will see old walls of mossy stones, hardwoods and conifers that line the path that leads to the waterfall, which gives a wild and authentic character to this magical place.

To make your senses travel even more, a sound cabin has been installed near the river to amplify the music of the water.

It is a place with a past, a history. You can see that next to the waterfall you have beautiful granite walls which are the ruins of two mills (a flour mill and an oil mill), as well as the location of an old floating port.

This place was previously used for floating wood, because the Morvan provided firewood to Paris. I assure you, panels have been set up to allow you to discover the history of the site.
