Holidays with a dog: and the memories?
Having a good time with your dog is ESSENTIAL. Even more when you are on vacation with the family. Sometimes we take advantage of these good times so much that we forget to take pictures to treasure them as memories. And yes, taking pictures is super important to remember. If the presence of a dog is a gift, its absence is very difficult to live with. It is all the more so when one has no material memories of its presence.
That's why I always have either my phone or my camera handy… sometimes even both to take pictures of Musher all the time and even more so when I go on vacation with my dog. Keeping memories with my dog is super important. But keeping them only in digital format is not enough! Imagine your computer or mobile phone giving up the ghost? All would be lost… And then, frankly, who looks on the computer at the holiday memories neatly arranged in the depths of a nested folder in other photo folders?
In this article, I offer several solutions to preserve beautiful memories of your dog. After 7 years of vacation with Musher, I am well established. This article will also be an opportunity to share with you some tips for taking beautiful photos of your dog. He has itchy feet? Are your photos often blurry? I share with you my tips for taking pretty pictures with your dog.
The photo album
The photo album is the best way to organize your memories with your family and your dog. You can do as many as you want and organize them by theme: years or places for example. So you can find your photos very quickly. And if you're looking the perfect photo album, do not panic, there is not one, but an infinite quantity. The photo album is available in different formats and thicknesses. And it is also customizable!!! Depending on the support you choose, you can put captions or customize the colors.
In short, the printed photo book is your memory and that of your dog together. I have a whole collection in my library that I like to reopen from time to time to immerse myself in my good memories.
The picture frame
The photo frame is the great classic, the one that sits on the sideboard or the bedside table. I love this support, because you can put it anywhere and see the face of your four legs as soon as you pass it.
Of course no limits, no one is limited to just one, you can own as many frames as you want and change the photos as you wish.
And when the Covid is behind us, you can take your dog to the office with you without it bothering any of your office colleagues 😉
Here at the office, we have dozens of picture frames! We have a whole wall full of photos of Wouafer's. Regularly we print your portraits. Thus, the whole team works with your smiles under their eyes: it motivates a maxxxx!!
photo magnets
Here's a fun solution, you might say. This is a great solution if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I who am very greedy, I never tire of seeing Musher's head on his Breton rock judging me when I go to steal a square of chocolate from the cupboards. In addition, you can customize them as you wish: round or square, small or large, the choice is yours.
personalized cards
If your dog is the star of your circle of friends, the support I'm about to tell you about will seem just PERFECT. Print your memories on a personalized card and share your memories by post! Your family and friends will be super happy to hear from you and they will also have a nice photo as a bonus.
How to take the best photo of your dog?
But what if you don't have nice pictures with your dog? Unfortunately we do not all improvise photographers. Also, I wanted to give you some tips for getting started.
If you are not very good at photography, your first ally will be light. No need to invest in a state-of-the-art SLR camera, your smartphone or compact camera can do just fine! As long as the level of light is high enough and your four-legged model is not against the light, you can almost go headlong.
It goes without saying that the decor is also important: a photo of your dog in a muddy path does not have the same class as a photo in a field of lavender. So put your dog on stage. Opt for a decor with pretty colors. You will get prettier photos.
Does your dog have itchy feet? Make him strike a pose by promising him a reward. Above all, do not force him to do this or that pose by force: the photo shoot must be a game for your dog to have fun. Well, he will be happy to share this moment with you and you will take beautiful pictures of him with pretty expressions.
Does he ever look your way? Hold a treat next to the lens and you should get the perfect shot.
If you have the necessary equipment like a tripod and a remote control to trigger the shot, then strike a pose with it.
Don't be afraid to use the burst mode: to get one or two nice photos, I often take dozens. Coming back from a walk or vacation, I sort and print the best photos. Be patient, play with your dog, have fun: these photo sessions must remain moments of great complicity; this is the great secret of a successful photo.
Where to take great photos with your dog?
If with all my advice you still lack the imagination to take great photos with your pet, here are some ideas for Too W'ouf activities that will surely allow you to capture magical moments.
In the snow or sand with his dog
I know I told you to be careful of the backlight. But there is one case in which you can make an exception – or rather two: sunrise and sunset. It is a wonderful light for taking pictures. Whether you are at the sea by the water or on a mountain range in the snow, play with your dog facing the light and you will have a super artistic photo!!!
On a paddle
If you are sporty and your dog follows you everywhere, the canipaddle will be a great activity to take great photos and impress your friends. You can strike a pose on the board with your dog!!! Your dog needs to be attentive during this kind of activity, your photo will not be blurred. Of course this posing technique – in full action – can be used for any other activity such as canoeing for example.
On a hike in the mountains
THE POSE to take on a photo with your dog when you are hiking, this is it!! Find a spot a little high and pose with your dog to admire the view. Your photo will definitely be Too W'ouf and no one will bother you because you are tomato red in the photo because of the climb. 😉
