Yes, some amusement parks and theme parks are dog-friendly ! And I'll give you a little spoiler, but some are even QUALIDOG certified, which means they'll take extra special care of your dog. How awesome is that?
My little girl isn't old enough for most rides yet, but when she is, I'll definitely go to an amusement park that allows dogs. Musher is such a calm dog that she goes everywhere. No matter how busy it is, she can sniff around or wait patiently. But I'm well aware that this isn't the case for all dogs, so I'll start this article with a few tips. Then, I promise, you'll get a list of dog-friendly amusement parks!
Some tips before going to an amusement park with your dog
Some amusement parks open their doors to your dog, of course, but that doesn't mean you have to take him along at all costs. Here are some tips to ensure you ALL have a great day.
- Is a day at the amusement park bearable for your dog?
First and foremost, I believe your dog's well-being is paramount . If he tends to be anxious, chases everything that moves, or barks when he's impatient, it might be best to have him looked after or keep him at your accommodation . At an amusement park, he'll be constantly stimulated: children running, shouting, the noise of the rides, loud music, crowds, and therefore close proximity to many strangers. For numerous reasons, I advise you to take your dog to an amusement park only if he is naturally very calm . For both his sake and yours, it's best to avoid him spending a day in a state of extreme fear or excitement.

Your dog is also likely to feel restrained during your day at the amusement park. There's no need to bring your 15-meter leash. In fact, a leash of less than 2 meters will be more than enough, as your dog will have to stay on a leash . With the crowds, you'll need to keep him close to you. Furthermore, the wait between and during the rides is long, since he won't be able to enjoy them—Woof! So, be aware that you'll be putting his patience to the test.
To give yourself the best chance of success, take him for a nice walk before going to the amusement park . This will allow him to burn off some energy, feel freer, and be more tolerant for the rest of the day. And I'm sure he won't say no to another lovely walk after all that exertion!

Another point to consider is the heat in summer. There isn't always shade available in amusement parks, and if you stay for several hours, your dog can get very hot . There's a real risk of heatstroke . To help your dog cope with the summer heat, you can equip them with a cooling harness , which simply needs to be regularly moistened with water. - Your dog will of course not be able to ride the attractions. Oh no, the Big Eight and the slides are not designed for him! - Popcorn Mazes
To begin, I have to tell you about my favorite activity parks: the Pop Corn Labyrinths. What do you mean you don't know? However, there are 40 labyrinths in France!
These play parks cover over 4 hectares in a cornfield divided into several activity areas. You'll find… a gigantic maze, of course! But that's not all: there are also puzzle trails , giant wooden games , an escape room … In short, plenty of activities to entertain both children and adults! Some are even offered at night. And your dog can come with you everywhere. I know Musher would be thrilled to sniff the miles of paths winding between the corn stalks. The best part about these amusement parks: 3 Pop Corn Mazes in the Paris region have the QUALIDOG label, woohoo! Your dog will be very welcome!
This amusement park is known for its gigantic attractions, and there are more than a hundred of them! Something to diversify your family day. It is in Germany but only 30 minutes from the French border. Waste bags are available at reception and there are several water points in the park to refresh your dog. They thought of everything! Category 1 and 2 dogs are however refused. The park also has a kennel if you prefer to spend the day without your dog.
This theme park has many attractions, water games and shows for young and old. It is located in Roquefort, between Bordeaux and Montauban. And your dog is welcome!
- Ange Michel Park
The park, with its 40 attractions, welcomes you and your dog and is sure to please both young children and adults. Thrills guaranteed! There's also a petting zoo, but dogs aren't allowed. It's located in the Manche department, and it's actually one of the stops we recommend in our one-week family road trip itinerary 😉
- Bagatelle Park
Attractions, shows, and a "pet farm" (I love that name 🤩) await you at this theme park. Dogs are welcome, although it's advisable not to bring them due to the lively atmosphere. It's located just outside Berck-sur-Mer on the Opal Coast, which you can discover in our itinerary designed to explore the coastline from the English Channel to the North Sea.
- Monte Igualdo Vintage Park
This amusement park resembles a funfair in the heart of a historical site. The wonder of the landscapes and remarkable monuments will blend with the thrills of the rides! Your calm dog will be welcome in this Spanish park, 40 minutes from Hendaye in France. We mention it in our one-week family itinerary for discovering the Landes region with your dog (yes, we're doing a lot of dog-friendly itineraries at the moment, because you love them! 😉).
Spend a day in cowboy and cowgirl (and cowdog?) mode at this activity park. From rides for young children to attractions where you will be shaken in all directions, you are sure to find what you are looking for in this Western universe. All well-behaved dogs are allowed to enter, and category dogs must of course be muzzled. There are water points to refresh your dog 😉 This park is located in Bouches-du-Rhône, between Marseille and La Ciotat.
The biggest amusement parks in France with a dog boarding facility
Some famous amusement parks do not accept dogs, but have understood that their visitors need a childcare solution! Please note, I am presenting these dog boarding facilities to you, but none have the QUALIDOG label. I therefore cannot guarantee the quality of your dog's welcome. Here are the amusement parks that have a dog boarding facility:
- le Disneyland Paris park in the Paris region: your dog will be accepted in the Animal Welcome Center, located in the visitor parking lot. On the other hand, agents are not allowed to take him out, so remember to come and take a walk if you spend the day at Disney 😉
- le Puy du Fou in Vendée: a dog boarding house with a relaxation area for dogs and boxes equipped with a camera. You will therefore be able to watch over your doggie, while attending the life-size shows of this exceptional park.
- le Futuroscope, near Poitier: your dog will also be kept in a box. Staff are not allowed to take it out. Category 1 and 2 dogs are not admitted.
- Nigloland Park near Troyes: shaded boxes are provided near the car park.
