Groot, Nova and Déborah, two canirando-loving Samoyeds
I am happy to introduce you to Groot, Nova and Déborah; a nice trio of sports and mountain fans. I leave it to Deborah to introduce us to her two Samoyeds. You will discover beautiful things about this adorable breed. With their white fur and their little black noses, they look like big stuffed animals.
Déborah: “It's up to you! “
Groot and Nova are samoyeds.
They are Nordic Spitz-type and primitive dogs (very old dogs that have been little modified by humans and therefore reveal more marked instincts than other breeds). The breed originated from the Samoyed tribes of the Siberia and Russia. They were mainly used for herding reindeer, hunting and moving loaded sleds in extreme temperatures. Originally the majority of these dogs were provided with a black dress. It was through selection that the Samoyed became what it is today pure white, cream or biscuit white. They are medium in size. If I have to choose 3 words to illustrate their characters it is: sociable, stubborn and funny. Despite the maintenance that this breed requires, they are real family dogs, alert and who adore children. They need a real framework and especially an important activity to feel good in their paws.
Two years ago now, my companion Rémy and I were looking to welcome a hairy person into our family. After having picked up our cat Chips in the street, we wanted to adopt a young dog so that the agreement between them would be as good as possible. We had found at the SPA refuge in Bayonne, a young Breton spaniel, with serious heart problems and two very pessimistic veterinary opinions on the future. We decided not to start the adoption given our situation and the fact that it was my first dog. We then searched on the internet without hurrying for a dog that could really correspond to our way of life. We came across an ad from a private individual. Before hitting the road to meet the puppies and their mother in Bordeaux, we did some research on the character of this breed. We immediately fell in love. Shortly after, not being able to forget these puppies, we submitted an application to welcome one. “Selected” we returned to Bordeaux to choose the chosen one. 1st come 1st chosen is how Groot came into our lives.
Groot, a full, pure white Samoyed male, is just over 2 years old today. He has dominated tendencies, I think he is still looking for his place. We meet a lot of masters with their dogs, the interactions with the congeners are constant and his place in the group is therefore constantly to be defined. Very close to his family, he adores Chips (our cat). A little too abrupt they are always at the stage of looking for each other. It gives us good laughs at home. Groot is a composed, calm dog who does not talk much, but who requires a lot of attention. He likes to be pampered and put oil on his hair (day cream every morning on his face without exception :D)
With Groot, I started to take a liking to sports again, to a lot of things for that matter. A real sports coach, but also of life. We taught each other how to find each other, we invent and reinvent each other every day. Having still enough love and attention for a third little animal at home, but also in view of my relationship with Groot, we decided to take a second dog, a female this time. It took us a long time to really decide, because we certainly didn't want to favor the second to the detriment of one. It's an important decision, because beyond the attention you have to have a budget to maintain it, equip it, educate it. Once decided. We hesitated for a very short time to choose between a Samoyed (which perfectly matches our life and our projects) or a Groenendael Belgian Shepherd.
Nova, full Samoyed female, biscuit white, is a little over 1 year old today. Independent, very robust, she loves to chat. It's the opposite of Groot in every way. The difficulty we encountered with this heart on leg is the maintenance of his hair, much more complicated. We absolutely had to invest in a pulser, new brushes, detanglers too. The relationship we have with her is unique, incomparable to the one we have with Groot. Very attentive, she learns quickly and analyzes a lot. She seems so lonely and behaves like such with these congeners that you would think that life would be better without us, but basically when you get home, in the intimacy, it's her life that collapses. Never have we seen such love to such an extent that just talking about it makes me feel moved. Nova is therefore the heart of the house.
I am 26 years old and am passionate about mountains and travel. Fans of Pyrenees, as soon as I have the opportunity I put on my shoes, I take my bag, my two dogs and I go for a walk in our beautiful mountains. I never really liked dogs, I was even afraid not so long ago. When Rémy told me that having a dog is inexplicable and that I was certainly going to love sharing moments with him, I had no idea that it was going to upset my life and my way of seeing the world so much.
Besides, if you want to discover their last expedition, I invite you to discover the article Do Trek in the Pyrenees with a dog. Groot, Nova and Déborah shared their adventure with us and gave valuable advice for embarking on a nice trek with your dog. I advise you to read this article.
