Ficelle and Cassandre, duo of Instagrammers
I recently discovered a Too Wouf Instagram account and a beautiful story behind it… So I decided to tell you about this pretty duo of Instagrammers that I interviewed via a new portrait Wouafement Bien!
First of all, why did you choose to adopt a dog?
Since I was little I have always had a close relationship with dogs, I have always dreamed of having my own dog, of educating it, walking it, traveling with it, and giving it a treat...
Why did you prefer to adopt rather than buy?
For the simple and good reason that we MUST ADOPT, far too many dogs end up in shelters every year when they haven't asked for anything, they need a loving family too. Getting a dog should not be done on a whim. Visiting shelters and waiting to find the right doggie is the choice I decided to make. I absolutely wanted to give a second life to a dog that had had bad luck in the past.
When did you adopt your loulou?
On 08/07/2011 (she had already been at the shelter for a month).
How old was she?
Ficelle was approximately one year old when we adopted him.
Did you choose his race? If so, is it for any particular reason?
So no absolutely not, when I came across Ficelle, it was absolutely love at first sight! I did not know the border collie and before adopting it, of course, I studied a little.
Border collies are working dogs, they need a lot of physical but also mental activity! It is a dog that must be occupied full time otherwise it risks developing ocds. It was perfect for me, because I'm a pretty hyperactive person, so I needed a dog that could follow me during my bike sessions, in canicross, in my travels, but also a dog that I could educate and to whom I could teach many little tricks.
Can you tell me your story? (how it all started, if there were any difficulties or on the contrary, etc.)
At the very beginning, Ficelle had a lot of fears, she wasn't very sociable with her peers, and as soon as someone said “hello” to her, she peed on herself (a pee of joy). It wasn't always easy but she learned very quickly. Every weekend we went to a canine club near our house and we worked together to make her feel better. She progressed very quickly and even obtained the CSAU (Certificate of Sociability and Aptitude for Use).
Do you do one (or more) activity(ies) together?
We practice canicross, canitvtt, canirando. When she was younger, she learned the basics of agility and we created a space for her in the garden for her to continue this activity that she really loves! We travel a lot with our dog and we would like to try other activities like canipaddle although both of us are not very comfortable in the water!
What does she like ?
Playing sports, big hugs, traveling with us, slipping on the sofa
Things she doesn't like?
To be alone, the shower
Do you always go on vacation with her? Any anecdotes to share with us (holiday anecdote for example)?
Yes I only left once without her because it was in Portugal and it was a last minute trip. My family took care of pampering her for me; Otherwise I take it everywhere. I always make sure she follows me, we even slept on Mont Saint-Michel together, passers-by who saw Ficelle through the hotel window thought we were inhabitants of the Mont, it was funny. THE Mont Saint Michel with a dog, it's wow good.
We went “off-season” there were very few people, we really enjoyed it, we even got up at 4am with Ficelle to go see the tide, it was impressive to be like “ prisoner” of the island.
Good travel plan that may interest:
Recently we went to Leffrinckoucke beach near Dunkirk, a fairly calm beach where doggies are accepted, the landscape is really nice. There are several blockhouses dating from the Second World War, and one blockhouse in particular which was entirely covered in mirrors by "l'Anonyme". This blockhouse really amazes us, and we can take very beautiful photos with our darlings, I recommend to all those who are passing through the North, to stop there to admire the work of this artist.
