Benji, Lucky and Camille: the inseparable trio
I wanted to tell you a nice story, that of Camille, a future high school student from Saône-et-Loire, and her two furry friends. Before that, a little presentation is in order! First of all, there is Benji, a chocolate Labrador male with whom she has been sharing Woafement Bien adventures for more than ten years. And then there is Lucky, a young Labrador cross golden retriever sable dog who joined the family almost two years ago.
Following a report they saw a few years ago, Camille's parents made a very good choice: to become a foster family for future guide dogs for the blind.
To explain briefly: these families welcome puppies from two and a half months to two years old. What are these families for? The objective of the family is to confront the puppy with as many different situations as possible so that it is hyper sociable and calm. The puppy also follows specific and compulsory education courses… but let's come back to our sheep.
Benji and Lucky were not destined to stay with their family at Camille's and yet fate decided otherwise….
Let's talk about Benji...
This little rascal has two great passions in life: swimming and, as a big foodie, eating of course! Besides, on this subject, she told me a little anecdote that made me laugh a lot. One day, this rascal fled hearing the call of the belly and he ate smoked herrings!!! Oops, bad luck he didn't digest them well and threw them up in the car… As Camille told me 'Hello smell!'
She also gave me a second little story. At the age of 4 Benji went on vacation to the Ile de Ré with his family. Until then, nothing could be more normal, except that the poor pooch got a sunburn on his head “it looked like horns were going to grow on him, since he is a little discolored..”
Let's take the time to discover Lucky...
Lucky arrived later. Camille and her family also took her into a foster family to train her as a future guide dog. Very fearful, she developed fears and frustrations which, because of her behavior, led to her being discharged. She was proposed to another association to become a dog therapist, however her profile was not retained. It is therefore quite natural that Camille's family also adopted the pretty Lucky. With her too, Camille shares lots of moments of complicity. Besides, they even started doing canicross and canivtt together. This year, she had the chance to go on vacation for a week in Corsica.
